One of the best things about visiting Broken Bow in the fall is the weather. The intense summer heat starts to fade, making it much more comfortable to hike, explore, fish, kayak, or simply spend time outside at your cabin.

September

September can still feel a lot like summer during the day, with warm afternoons and plenty of sunshine. Evenings begin cooling down, making it a great month if you still want warm-weather activities with more comfortable nights.

Pack shorts and lighter clothing for the daytime, but bring a light jacket or sweatshirt for mornings and evenings.

October

October is when Broken Bow really starts feeling like fall.

Days are typically mild and comfortable, while mornings and evenings are noticeably cooler. This is also when travelers begin coming to the area hoping to catch the changing leaves.

Layers are your best friend during an October trip.

November

November brings cooler days and crisp evenings, making it perfect weather for fireplaces, hot tubs, hiking, and cozy cabin weekends.

Located inside Beavers Bend State Park, Beavers Bend Depot & Stables offers horseback trail rides through the wooded surroundings.

Traveling with younger kids or not interested in horseback riding? The Beavers Bend Train Ride is another family favorite. The open-air train takes you through the park and gives you the chance to spot deer, birds, and other wildlife along the way.

If you would rather spend your day on the water, the Lower Mountain Fork River inside the park is also well known for trout fishing and fly fishing.

3. Stop by Mountain Fork Brewery

After a day of exploring, head to Mountain Fork Brewery in Hochatown.

It is a laid-back spot for locally brewed beer, brick oven pizza, and casual food the whole family can enjoy.

They offer a rotating selection of beers and often have live music or other entertainment on the weekends.

It is an easy place to stop for lunch, dinner, or a drink before heading back to the cabin.

4. Spend an Evening at Hochatown Saloon

If you are looking for dinner, drinks, and a little nightlife, Hochatown Saloon is a longtime local favorite.

The menu includes Southern favorites, burgers, steaks, fried okra, mac and cheese, and plenty of comfort food.

They also host live music and events throughout the year.

On weekend nights, the atmosphere gets livelier, so bring your boots if you are in the mood to dance.

Fall Events in Broken Bow

Fall brings several seasonal events and activities to the Broken Bow and Hochatown area.

One of the area's longstanding traditions is the Beavers Bend Folk Festival & Craft Show, typically held at Beavers Bend State Park in November.

The festival brings together local makers, artists, food vendors, demonstrations, and entertainment surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the park.

Bug Spray

Mosquitoes and other insects can still be active during warmer parts of the fall, especially near wooded areas and water.

Swimsuit
