Let’s take a look at the three best golf courses near Broken Bow.
Number One Choice: Cedar Creek Golf Course
- Address: 3650 Golf Course Rd, Broken Bow, OK
- Book a tee time: chronogolf.com/club/cedar-creek-golf-course-oklahoma
Who needs more than one golf course in town when the Cedar Creek Golf Course is considered to be the best in the state? Rated by Golf Digest Magazine as the number one municipal golf course in Oklahoma, Cedar Creek knows a thing or two about sinking a putt!
Location
Located in Beaver Bend State Park, you will fall in love with this gulf course’s pristine beauty before even getting a look at the 18-hole course. Surrounded by the picturesque Kiamichi Mountains and the dense pine forest that makes Broken Bow so magical, Cedar Creek is as beautiful as it is fun.
Surroundings
Just like its name, Cedar Creek runs through the gulf course, adding to the natural beauty and providing a peaceful soundscape. That is unless you get too close! Just as much of a hazard as it is a stunning feature, the creek only adds to the excitement of the course. You’ll also get an occasional view of the city’s namesake, Broken Bow Lake, and if you are really lucky, you might even spot a bald eagle flying up overhead.
Once you are done gushing over the natural scenery, it’s time to admire the course itself. Lined with Champion Bermuda Grass and sporting 18 holes at Par 72, Cedar Creek isn’t messing around. Golfers will feel as though they entered the big leagues as they admire the crystal blue waters of Broken Bow Lake and read the green for their next stroke.
Driving Range
Feeling a bit rusty? Head over to Cedar Creek’s driving range to work on your swing before hitting the 18-hole golf course, or try out the practice greens before finding yourself in one of the course’s challenging chipping areas.
Pro Shop
You can also head over to Cedar Creek’s Pro Shop to learn from the best. Here, you can schedule a lesson or simply opt for a club fitting so you can make sure you are always on top of your game! This is also the place for club rentals if you have to leave your loyal collection at home and golf carts to cut down on all the walking.
Prices
Most golfers should expect to pay $40 for the day, but there are discounted rates for juniors ($25), seniors ($32), and anyone arriving after 3 PM ($30). Keep in mind that the price jumps to $47 if you want to play on Friday and Saturday like everybody else. (Prices are current at the time of publication.) Whatever you decide to do, make sure to schedule a tee time in advance.
Nearby Attractions
After a few hours on the course, it’s time to enjoy more of what Beaver Bend State Park has to offer! Head over to the Lake Lodge to rent a kayak and get out on Broken Bow Lake, opt to go fishing on the shoreline, or enjoy a scenic hike around the lake’s edge.
A Nearby Gem: Idabel Country Club
- Address: 2301 E Lincoln Rd, Idabel, OK
- Website: idabelcountryclub.org
Located just 20 minutes south of Broken Bow, Idabel Country Club is perfect for a day on the green. Established back in 1941, the Idabel Country Club’s historic value gives it some extra brownie points. In fact, when it first opened its doors to the public, it was a simple 9-hole course with wide open space and sandy greens. Since then, thousands of pine trees have been peppered throughout the course, and a once-basic setup has become an inviting challenge.
History
As more people came looking for premium tee shots, the Idabel Country Club decided it was time to expand. In the late 1990s, nine more holes were added to the course, making it a perfect 18, and with this addition came a new challenge—water! This is a great option for golfers looking to hone in on their skills and escape the crowds of the ever-popular Cedar Creek Golf Course.
Open to the Public
Although it is a golf club, the course is always open to the public, and you can even grab a bite to eat at the clubhouse if you show up around lunchtime (the only time the clubhouse is open to the public).
Prices
Keep in mind that green fees do apply, cart rentals are available, and it’s always a good idea to book a tee time ahead of time! Check their website for current pricing and tee times.
Family Friendly Alternative: Chili Dippers Golf Club
- Address: 12206 N US Hwy 259, Broken Bow, OK
- Website: chilidippers.com
As close to a professional golf course as a miniature golf course can get, the Chili Dippers Golf Club is not your average family outing!
Family Friendly Course
Located just 15 minutes north of Broken Bow, this stunning course might just inspire the pro golfer in you. Say goodbye to dinosaur obstacles and classic mini-golf bumpers because at Chili Dippers it is all fairway! Navigate around sand traps as you and your family put your skills to the test. Then, head over to the clubhouse for a cold beverage and a bite to eat to celebrate your hard work. Just remember, the loser buys the ice cream!
Prices
And unlike other golf courses, no tee times are required. Just show up, pay $20 per adult and $15 per child (prices are current at the time of publication), and then let the fun begin! You can bring your own putter if you are trying to show off, but if you left your trusty club at home, no worries! Chili Dippers has got you covered free of charge.
