Where to Ride

1. K-Trail

Following the Kiamichi Mountain Ridgeline, the K-Trail offers some of the most spectacular views around Broken Bow. Ride through the Ouachita National Forest and leave your troubles behind as you experience the feeling of true wilderness.
The whole route takes about 5 hours, and the road is in great condition for its use, so it is a great option for beginners and experienced riders alike. Plus, the road is wide enough for two vehicles, so you don’t have to worry about the dreaded task of reversing down the trail (if you know, you know).
Be sure to check out the Three Sticks Monument along your route and say hello to Arkansas when you reach the finish line!
It is important to note that the National Forest Service maintains this road and will close it if the weather gets too bad. Call the ranger station for the most up-to-date road conditions.
2. Old Military Road
This road follows a historic road that was built by the military back in 1832, and you can see the remnants of this rich part of history as you ride. Not a history buff? No worries! The Old Military Road also offers spectacular views and fun challenges. Once you have conquered the climb up Winding Stair Mountain, the trail joins the Boardstand Trail to finish out the loop.
Remember that Old Military Road doesn’t allow motorcycles or horses, but you may come across them when you hit Boardstand. Once you have finished the route, swing by Talimena State Park for some hiking or drive along the Talimena Scenic Drive for an added bonus!
3. Honobia Creek Scenic Route

Winding through the Honobia Creek Wildlife Management Area, this recreation area is the gift that keeps on giving. The wildlife management area focuses on hunting, but don’t let that fool you! The unpaved scenic route that winds through the 80,000-acre property is also an ATV riding paradise.
Just avoid this road during the muzzleloading season, if possible, and don’t forget to download a trail map. There are plenty of other forestry roads that branch off of this one, and your curiosity will surely get the best of you!
4. Fish Fry Creek Road

A small trail that packs a punch, the Fish Fry Creek Road is a great addition to a more extensive day of off-roading. It won’t take long to get down to Mountain Fork River, but it is one of the few places that lets you do that. The trail descends all the way down to the water’s edge and is a great place to stop for lunch along your adventures. On the way down, you will get to experience creek crossings, slow crawls, and the occasional muddy puddle!
Right before you reach the river, you will come across a mysterious abandoned van that must have gone up in flames. Feel free to check it out! It’s been there for years.
5. Bee Creek and Dyer Mountain

If you are looking for something a bit more challenging, then the Bee Creek and Dyer Mountain trail is the one for you! Although this trail is shorter than some of the other popular ATV trails in the area, it will still probably take you all day to navigate.
The challenge starts when you get off the pavement with a steep, narrow climb up towards Bee Creek Mountain. Once you crest the peninsula, you will be rewarded with amazing lake views. Get out to take in the views before heading up and around Dyer Mountain.
You will get to enjoy incredible views, navigate through some tricky spots, drive through large puddles, and end the trail with a short hike to a waterfall. What more could you want?
